Once again in 2008, Bertagna Goaltending Schools and Sports Etc,
are sponsoring a $500 scholarship for a Massachusetts high school
senior who is continuing his or her education next year. If you are
interested in this scholarship, please have your high school coach
submit a letter on your behalf that speaks of your accomplishments,
on and off the ice. The award is not a "best goalie" type of an award.
Rather the scholarship identifies unique qualities, on and off the
ice, and is not limited to goalkeeping excellence. Perhaps you were
a junior varsity goalie who never gave up hope of starting a varsity
game. Maybe you were a backup varsity goalie who never missed a practice.
Maybe you were a goalie with exceptional grades or an exemplary community
involvement history.
If you believe you qualify for this award, your coach should wrte to: Bertagna Scholarship Award, P.O. Box 495, Arlington, MA 02476. |
Bertagna Goaltending On the Road
The staff of Bertagna Goaltending is enjoying a busy fall, not only with weekly clinics at Woburn's Holland Arena on Sundays but also on ice owned by numerous youth organizations. If your organization is interested in Joe's services, contact Joe at jbertagna@comcast.net. ![]() Joe Bertagna held his annual goalie week for female goalies at The Edge in Bedford, MA. The camp was co-directed with former Northeastern University and Team USA goalie Kelly Dyer Hayes. Shown on the ice after Wednesday's session: former camper Kerrin Sperry, now tending goal at Boston University; Stephanie Ciampa, now tending goal at Mercyhurst College, Joe; and Melissa Pacific, former Ohio State goalie now coaching at Phillips Exeter Academy.
